Nurses in the Northern Panhandle can continue their education with online classes at West Virginia University to earn a bachelor of science degree in nursing. With this 2+2 agreement between WVU and West Virginia Northern Community College, those with an associate’s degree can matriculate into WVU’s program.
Registered nurses are admitted directly to the WVU School of Nursing. Acceptance and placement in the program are dependent upon the individual’s academic record and upon the number of spaces available. An unrestricted license to practice nursing and a grade point average of 2.5 or better on all college work attempted are required to be eligible for consideration.
Students must successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) test prior to admittance to the RN-BSN program. Upon verification, 45 Undifferentiated Nursing credit hours are transferred to WVU from the associate’s degree/RN licensure.
