"...That’s what distinguishes WVU students from, I'm sorry other universities, but other universities.  When we hire somebody they are ready to go to work today.  I always tell our people it’s a 2 year program while you get adjusted.  It’s going to take 2 years for you to learn the community and learn all the services in the community until you get comfortable, but a WVU student comes in here prepared to go to work the first day...."

Why would I tell somebody to do this?  Career opportunities.  There are jobs anywhere in the country and literally anywhere in the world if you're interested.  You can take this job they’re hiring in Canada, they’re hiring in New Zealand, they’re hiring in Australia, they’re hiring all over the world, rehab counselors.

I have found WVU students, and they were our counselors, to be ready to meet the task. It’s interesting because quite often you have people that will come out of undergraduate school or graduate school and with no practical experience, but WVU students seem to have no problem interfacing with the clients that we have to service or provide services to...and they’ve been stellar employees.

It might be intimidating for someone to go online thinking that, “well, there’s not going to be any support or there’s not going to be anyone to answer my questions,” but she [Dr. Margaret Glenn] and the other instructors were always totally available, usually within hours and I think that’s one of the keys to feeling comfortable.  The program has been accredited for several years now whereas other programs either aren’t accredited yet or just recently accredited.  So I think that experience at WVU probably is beneficial also.
