Home schooled students may enroll in the WVU ACCESS program.

Criteria for admission to courses for home schooled high school age students are basically the same as those for students in public or private schools. To be eligible for admission to WVU as an ACCESS participant, applicants must have:

• Completed the 11th grade, and
• Earned at least a 3.0 grade point average as demonstrated by a transcript.
  This transcript may be generated by the student’s parents/guardians/teachers listing coursework complete with letter grades assigned. Please contact Admissions and Records at Marilyn.Potts@mail.wvu.edu for guidance on the necessary components of this transcript.
  

How to Apply

Home school students interested in taking courses at WVU should:

1. Complete an ACCESS program application/registration form or call (304) 293-5805 x32307 to obtain one by mail. Please enter the words "Home Schooled" where asked for the name of your high school.
2. Sign the ACCESS application form where the student's signature is indicated. Obtain the permission signature of your parent or guardian on the appropriate line.
3. Provide a transcript of courses with grades indicating your grade point average.
4. Contact the ACCESS academic advisor at 293-5805 x32307 to make an appointment to discuss your academic interests, and select the course(s) in which you wish to enroll.
5. Send your application, transcript and application fee check to:

6. Once your are registered for your course, you will be billed for undergraduate tuition and fees.
