Registration
Q. How do I register for a non-credit course?
Students can register for most non-credit courses any time during the year. Go to our website at https://eservices.wvu.edu/elearn/ to register and pay online or mail this application form(PDF file) with a check made out to West Virginia University.
Q. How will I know that my registration has been processed?
Whether the student paid online or by check, the student will receive an email from WVUEnrich@mail.wvu.edu confirming their registration and payment.
Q. What is the cost of a non-credit course(s)?
Go to the course page(s) from www.elearn.wvu.edu/Continuing or go to our registration page at https://eservices.wvu.edu/elearn
Q. How long will it take for me to complete a non-credit course?
Most of the non-credit courses are self-paced within a six month timeframe. The average time for course completion is noted in the course description on the registration page https://eservices.wvu.edu/elearn/
Q. How many courses may I take at a time?
You choose from one course to as many as you like. Keep in mind that each course has specific objectives and requirements for completion so you may want to pace yourself accordingly. Q. Are there particular class times when I must be online for the course(s)?
You may work on-line at times of your own choice. You decide if you participate first thing in the morning or late at night. Reports show that peak times for online students are between 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Q. Can I complete all course work from my home or is there any required time on site?
All online course work may be done from your home. You have no requirement to come to an on site location unless designated on the course page or by the instructor. On-site courses or class observations will be designated on the course page www.elearn.wvu.edu/Continuing
Q. What does the start date and end date mean on the registration page?
The start date is when the student can register for that term. The end date is when the term is over. In order to finish the course within the term, note the average course completion time noted in the course description https://eservices.wvu.edu/elearn. If the student has not completed the course within the term, it is the decision of the instructor on whether to grant the student an extension of another term period.
Class Access
Q. All I received was my registration confirmation. How do I access the class?
Student information is submitted to WVU eCampus Support for activation of the student’s account (username and password). The student will be emailed from WVUEnrich@mail.wvu.edu with the Course URL, Username and Default Password. Allow 5 business days to receive this information.
Q. What if I cannot access the class with the information emailed to me?
Contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk at (304) 293-4444 or 1-877-327-9260 (Toll Free), Extension 1. State that you are a non-credit student.
Q. Are there any special computer requirements?
The student can check computer requirements on each course page(s) by going to www.elearn.wvu.edu/Continuing Most of the courses involve basic software packages like Adobe Acrobat, Quick Time Player, Macromedia Flash Player, and JavaScript. Software packages are free in the Getting Started portion of the course(s). Access to Internet Explorer and emailing capabilities are required in all classes.
Refund Policy
Q. What is the refund policy?
All requests for cancellations/refunds must be in writing. Requests must be made within the first week from when the class access information was emailed to the student. Mail to: WVU Extended Learning, P.O. Box 6800, Morgantown, WV, 26506 or email to WVUEnrich@mail.wvu.edu. A $30 processing fee will be charged to the student for any cancellation/refund.
Q. What is Gatlin Education Services refund policy?
Any cancellation and refund request must be submitted in writing by the student to WVU Extended Learning. A $50 processing fee will be charged to the student for a cancellation requested before materials (books) are mailed to the student. If the student cancels within ten days after the materials are mailed to the student, then a $100 processing fee will be charged, provided the student returns the materials, within five days of the written request, in their original condition. If the materials are not returned within the specified period of time or are not in their original condition, then a $500 processing fee will be charged to the student. If the student cancels any time between eleven and thirty days after the materials are mailed to the student, then a $300 processing fee will be charged, provided the student returns the materials, within 5 days of the written request, in their original condition. If the materials are not returned within the specified period of time or are not in their original condition, then a $500 processing fee will be charged to the student. No other refunds will be considered.
Financial Aid
Q. Do you offer financial aid?
There are loan programs available with the Gatlin Education Services courses. Please go to www.gatlineducation.com to learn more about these loan programs. Also accepted are checks from Employer Assistance Programs. Checks should be made out to West Virginia University. No other financial aid assistance or tuition waiver is accepted for non-credit courses.
Miscellaneous
Q. Is there a certificate awarded?
Once the instructor notifies WVU Extended Learning that a student has finished the requirements for the course, a Course Completion Certificate is signed by the Dean and mailed to the student’s home address. If a student requires the certificate for an employer, WVU Extended Learning will fax the Course Completion Certificate to the designated office.
